The historic WWE Raw 25 celebrated a quarter century of the WWE’s flagship show with a night of old and new converging as one.
WWE Raw 25 saw many great moments of outstanding nostalgia that took fans back to the past. But the show also featured present-day stars and their development which included an important title change.
Last night saw a little bit of everything, but now with the Royal Rumble just five days away, the WWE’s focus shifts to the building of that event and the subsequent building towards WrestleMania 34. With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from last night’s WWE Raw 25.
5. Elias Gets Major Momentum
It might have taken longer than it could have taken, but the career of Elias has finally been taking off as of late. And last night’s development was a big one moving forward and could even lead to a possible WrestleMania match.
On the Dec. 25 edition of Raw, Elias had an encounter with John Cena, which led to a match that Cena won despite Elias showing great promise. But on last night’s Raw 25, Elias would get a shot at redemption to a lesser degree after being interrupted by the leader of the Cenation.
Elias was singing a humorous song that shot down several WWE legends on a night where the WWE was celebrating 25 years of Raw. You immediately began to think which superstar or superstars would interrupt him, and Cena made that prophecy come true. The two briefly talked before a stare off with Cena challenging Elias to do something.
The two then began to go at it with Cena getting the upper hand initially, but after a low blow, Elias got the last laugh and laid out the 16-time world champion. This was a great segment for Elias’ character moving forward and getting the upper hand on a legend on one of the biggest Raw’s in years is big.
Many want to walk with Elias and who knows, last night’s encounter could lead to a breakthrough feud for the heelish guitar picker against one of the WWE’s all-time greats.
