WWE Releases Enzo Amore After Allegations Of Rape

WWE has officially come to terms with the release of Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore. This comes just a day after Amore was accused of a rape that occurred in October.

Yesterday, a woman made allegations of a rape committed by Enzo Amore (real name Eric Arndt), which occurred on Oct. 19, public on Twitter. You can view the tweet containing screenshots of direct messages here. In an interview with Fightful, the victim gave a more detailed explanation of what happened, including what Amore said.

Readers should be warned that how she describes the incident below is disturbing and contains graphic language.

"“Enzo Amore goes ‘Layla thank you for bringing this girl around. This is the type of girl I’ve been waiting for… that I can just destroy. She’s such a lightweight, she doesn’t even know what’s going on. I’m going to rape the s*** out of her.’"

She recently told TMZ that she “said ‘no’ countless times” to Amore.

Fightful also confirms that Amore was at a concert in Glendale, AZ on Oct. 19, and the incident was said to have occurred in the Phoenix area. Pro Wrestling Sheet is also confirming that a police report was filed as well at the time and that the investigation is still ongoing (though the “bulk” of it is complete, per Pro Wrestling Sheet’s report).

But probably one of the biggest surprises to come out of this story is that, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Amore was well aware of the allegations, however neglected to inform WWE of it. This may be a contributing factor to Enzo’s release today, which was officially announced here. Note: The WWE did not wish Enzo the best in his future endeavors.

Prior to releasing Enzo today, WWE initially suspended Enzo yesterday. WWE also stated when suspending Amore that they have zero tolerance when it comes to matters regarding sexual assault. This is standard for a company like WWE, so the initial decision to suspend Enzo indefinitely when they first heard of the news yesterday was unsurprising.

As for the Cruiserweight division and championship, nothing is known as to what the future holds. It is most likely that the future will be addressed on 205 Live. Cedric Alexander was scheduled to face Enzo Amore for the Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble prior to Enzo’s suspension and, now, release.
