An unexpected end to Baron Corbin vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, a fun opening segment, and a really good main event were among the highlights of WWE SmackDown Live.

After an underwhelming couple of shows, WWE SmackDown Live returned to form this week with an entertaining episode. As is always the case, some segments stood out more than others. While the show wasn’t crammed with legends like the RAW 25 special the night before, WWE did plenty to entertain the Washington D.C. crowd for a couple of hours.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens continued with their “Yep!” movement. A.J. Styles wrestled TWICE. All of the women were shoehorned into one segment again, this time for a good reason. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan furthered their tension. Okay, that last one wasn’t as great, but you get my point. These five moments from last Tuesday’s broadcast helped breathe some life into the show ahead of the upcoming Royal Rumble pay-per-view, which takes place this Sunday.

Honorable Mention: The New Day and U.S. Champion Bobby Roode vs. Rusev, Aiden English, and Jinder Mahal– A fun tag match, but it was ultimately meaningless. If nothing else, Roode and New Day’s pre-match segment was entertaining and almost made me want to see Roode join New Day…almost. By the way, WWE needs to turn Rusev face ASAP. Of course, I’ll probably hit the Powerball before WWE gives the fans what they want.
