An overall great Royal Rumble weekend for WWE means there were plenty of great performances in the ring. Here are the best of the best.

Every weekend, I present to you my choices for top in-ring performances by WWE superstars. Usually, it’s limited to what happens on RawSmackDown, 205 Live, and NXT. And there’s plenty to pick from – most of the time.

But with the “Big Four” weekends becoming supersized of late, there’s so much wrestling to watch. Pay per views for the Big Four are four hours long now, plus a two hour kick off show. Then there’s NXT TakeOver the night before the official main attraction. That’s an additional eight and a half or so hours of good old fashioned rasslin’ besides the seven we get every week.

So rather than try to force these top performances, and fully anticipating big things to happen this weekend, the events of the Rumble weekend are getting their own piece. This weekend, I highlighted the best of the week of Jan. 22. But this piece will focus solely on TakeOver and the Royal Rumble.

Just as a friendly reminder, we’re looking at the in-ring performances. Vince McMahon may hate the fact that WWE is a wrestling company, but that middle W still stands for “Wrestling.” After all, you can’t have a wrestling show without wrestling, right?

With that, here are the best in-ring performances from Royal Rumble Weekend in Philadelphia.
