WWE: Making The Case For A Balor Club Heel Turn
By BRETT HUSSEY
Finn Balor is one of the most popular superstars in the WWE, but now that he’s back with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, it’s time for him to go heel. Here’s why.
We can all admit that the coming together of Finn Balor and Gallows and Anderson was a long time coming and was one of the most anticipated stable formations in recent years. Their natural chemistry and real life friendship creates an intriguing and interesting future for the three former New Japan stand outs. That brings up the question, what’s next for the Balor Club? In my opinion, it’s time for Vince and company to pull the trigger (no pun intended) on a Balor Club heel turn.
Ever since Finn arrived in NXT, he has portrayed a pure babyface character. We’ve seen his great feuds in NXT with Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe, along with mediocre feuds on the main roster with the likes of Bray Wyatt and Elias.
Balor’s greatest matches arguably took place on the main roster in rare babyface versus babyface bouts, battling with AJ Styles at TLC, and defeating Seth Rollins to become the first ever WWE Universal Champion at SummerSlam 2016. Finn’s potential as a WWE Superstar is just scratching the surface, and a potential heel turn could be the boost he needs, along with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, to reach up and grab that proverbial “brass ring.”
History
As you’re probably aware, the trio now known as Balor Club realistically made their name in New Japan under the “Bullet Club” moniker. Known as “Prince Devitt” at the time, Balor was a nasty heel, often using fellow Club members Gallows and Anderson to assist him in picking up wins. Gallows and Anderson have been heels during most of their somewhat underwhelming run in WWE so far, and it’s time for Balor to join them. It’s time to end the big grin on his face and it’s time for the end of “you are all Balor Club.” It’s time for “we are Balor Club” and no one else. It’s time for a mean, nasty Finn Balor.
Feuds
The potential feuds are seemingly endless. While the Shield is currently out of commission due to an unfortunate long term injury to Dean Ambrose, a Balor Club/Shield feud is something the WWE Universe would salivate over. Even a heel Finn Balor taking on Roman Reigns would suffice. Or, perhaps Finn finally decides it’s time to get back that coveted Universal Championship from current champion Brock Lesnar, in which he never lost.
While we’re at it, a potential superstar shake up placing Balor Club and AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura on the same roster has classic written all over it. The amount of current babyface Superstars on the roster creates a need for a new mega heel. The Balor Club trio, with Finn as the centre piece, fills the hole for that need and creates many fresh feuds, something the WWE desperately needs.

Finn Balor is one of the most “over” characters on the roster, despite Vince McMahon reportedly being not keen on the Irish superstar. No one can deny that Finn is one of the best in-ring performers in the business, and with Gallows and Anderson by his side, there is limitless potential for great story telling on the Raw roster. WWE needs to see the nasty, sinister Demon Finn Balor. WWE needs a despicable, chaos causing stable featuring Gallows and Anderson. In other words, a heel Balor Club stable would just be “too sweet.”
