WWE NXT: Ranking the Top 10 Women’s Title Matches of All-Time
By Joe Hulbert
6. Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks (NXT Takeover: Rival)
There have been quite a few multi-woman NXT title matches throughout history but only one makes this list and that’s of course this famous 4 Horsewomen battle. This match came after the aforementioned R Evolution singles bout between Charlotte and Sasha and was the pay-off to a nicely told story involving all four women. Respect had brought Charlotte and Bayley together which in turn put them opposite the Team B.A.E (yep) duo of Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.
However, tension quickly emerged between the villainous pair, most visibly after Lynch got Banks disqualified in a title match against Charlotte. All of these elements combined to give this 4-way match quite a bit of gravity and the physicality absolutely delivered with all four women getting the time needed to show-off their own individual skill-sets. For Lynch in particular it was a real chance to shine as she was the least tenured women as far as NXT and this was her first real major match for the brand. She made the most that opportunity too, having a standout performance that raised her stock tremendously.
The match’s winner was Banks, who’d finally secured the NXT title after a quite lengthy chase. It was certainly well-deserved too, she’d been on fire for quite some time and as is now clear, would now reach a new level with the title over her shoulder. A big year would follow for ‘The BOSS’ and much of it took place with these three women as her key opponents. She may not have been the first choice but Banks had become undeniable and this match’s result very much showed that.
