This Week’s X-Division Spotlight

El Hijo de Fantasma challenges Taiji Ishimori for the X-Division Championship.  There is no true background within this match.  It should be in contention for match of the year given the talent in the title match.  It’s a champion versus champion match as Fantasma is the AAA Latin American Champion.

This match had a slow technical but everyone knows this pace will not remain.  Ishimori is a master of mind games but Fantasma is straight forward.  Fantasma has an awesome combination of speed and power and he takes the early control.  As the match is more in Fantasma’s favor, he locks in an inverted figure four leg lock.  The pace is slower with Fantasma in control which has to be uncomfortable for the champion.

It was the defense of Ishimori that allowed him to quicken the pace.  Just when the pace seemed to be in the favor of Ishimori, Fantasma hits the arrow.  The most competitive portion of the match so far was on the outside of the ring as the two traded dives.  Ishimori showing the power of his own as he drops Fantasma with a gutbuster.  It was all academic from there as Ishimori hits the 450 splash to retain the X-Division Championship match.
