Booker T is one of the greatest workers in wrestling, and Corey Graves is probably the best announcer in the WWE. Put them together, and you get a “feud” that is capable of winning the Internet.
The WWE Elimination Chamber PPV will take place tonight, and everyone is excited to see how the first ever women’s EC match will go. Fans are also buzzing about Asuka’s undefeated streak being on the line against Nia Jax, the seven-man EC match, and Ronda Rousey’s contract signing (OK maybe some people are just annoyed at that last one).
But before the kick-off show even started, panelist Booker T and announcer Corey Graves got into a “scuffle” with posted evidence on Twitter.
OK, just kidding, I’m not going to kayfabe the hell out of this, and, well, I have no right to. Because I was one of the people who was worked hard by Booker T “shooting” on his old announce partner Corey Graves. If you recall, Booker said that he would like to beat up Corey, and he essentially blamed the former NXT standout for “costing” him his job as the babyface announcer on Raw.
Many of us – and it’s totally OK to take my lead and admit to a bunch of people on the Internet that you got worked – bit. Hard.
In the end, it was all a work – a wonderful work, at that. The two seem to have plenty of mutual respect, and, well, Booker apparently wanted to be a kick-off panelist instead of a regular announcer anyway. Admittedly, I enjoy him and his unique way of commentating on WWE storylines more on the pay per view panel.
I love how these two are still giving callbacks to that whole incident, and when you work people in wrestling media and within the business itself (even Michael Cole asked Graves if everything was OK between them), you know you’ve hit one out of the park.
