Report: Bobby Lashley Has ‘Agreed To Terms’ With WWE
Bobby Lashley has been linked with a move back to WWE for a few months now, so it comes as no surprise that he has reportedly agreed to terms with the company.
This past week on Impact Wrestling TV, Bobby Lashley teamed up with Eddie Edwards to defeat oVe, and Lashley has consistently been one of the biggest stars in the promotion. The man has been a four-time world champion in Impact, and he was recently a part of one of the hottest feuds in pro wrestling last year against Moose.
Lashely was released by Impact on Jan. 14, 2018, and ever since then, he’s been heavily linked to WWE. BodySlam.net’s Brad Shepard reports that Lashley has recently “agreed to terms” with WWE, and while this news shouldn’t surprise anyone, it’s still a huge deal. (Update: Dave Meltzer first reported that a deal between WWE and Lashley was fully expected to take place.)
I wouldn’t expect Lashley to make his return to WWE until after WrestleMania, and an appearance on the Raw after WrestleMania would be ideal. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer News is said to have reported (h/t Sportskeeda) that if Brock Lesnar doesn’t leave WWE for the UFC again after ‘Mania, WWE officials are “high” on a potential feud between Lesnar and Lashley.
Lesnar’s MMA background is well-known, as he’s a former UFC Heavyweight Champion. Lashley is also a highly accomplished mixed martial artist, boasting a 15-2 career record with five straight wins in Bellator. Although Lashely hasn’t fought since Oct. 21, 2016, his history in MMA would likely be a selling point if this feud were to occur. On top of that, both have experience in amateur wrestling.
If Lashley has indeed signed with WWE, I would fully expect him to debut on the main roster instead of going through NXT, where a different former Impact star, Ethan Carter III, will make his debut (he was in the audience at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia). Lashley already paid his dues in OVW and the main roster as a two-time ECW Champion and a one-time United States Champion.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the much-improved Lashley can do in his second stint in WWE. He was so important to Impact, and his in-ring work puts him as one of the better wrestlers in the world today. But crucially, his mic skills improved in Impact, and that will be the most interesting thing to see this year if he joins WWE.
