The post-Elimination Chamber edition of WWE Raw was an impactful show as the red brand begins immediately building towards WrestleMania 34.
The Feb. 26 edition of WWE Raw was a stellar show as a whole with several standout moments, including several superstars’ WrestleMania plans becoming clearer.
There’s still nearly six weeks until the granddaddy of them all, but it’s to the point where the feuds are needing to get off and running. The red brand has followed that formula immediately as was evident last night. Let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Feb. 26 edition of WWE Raw.
5. Women’s Storylines Taking Shape
The red brand’s women’s division had a banner night at Elimination Chamber on Sunday with the first-ever women’s Elimination Chamber match along with a couple other marquee moments. But the post-Elimination Chamber Raw was quite important in its own right for the women’s division moving forward.
Last night’s show kicked off with Alexa Bliss cutting a great promo alongside the apparent new heel Mickie James before Asuka intervened. Bliss roasted The Empress Of Tomorrow before chaos broke out with the inclusions of Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Nia Jax as well. A six-woman tag team match followed with Bliss, James, and Jax against Banks, Bayley, and Asuka.
The storyline developments continued during this match with Banks and Bayley, who have both been at each other more than usual. Banks turned on Bayley at Elimination Chamber in some regards, but Bayley returned the favor last night when she refused to allow Banks to tag her in the match. Asuka got the win for her team, but the storylines are really taking shape nicely for the red brand with WrestleMania season alive and well.
If Bliss does defend her title against Asuka at WrestleMania, this feud has a lot of potential as was evident last night to an extent. Not to mention, what role will Jax play in the equation? She has been a force lately and should remain a major factor leading into the show of shows. And then there’s the storyline between Banks and Bayley which could definitely lead to a WrestleMania match.
The women’s division on Monday night is red-hot at the perfect time as the buildup towards WrestleMania gets rolling.
