The final WWE SmackDown of February was a stellar show from start to finish with solid in-ring work and a couple standout promos as well.

The Feb. 27 edition of WWE SmackDown saw a major piece added to the Fastlane WWE Championship puzzle as well as some other important developments leading into Fastlane.

The blue brand is gradually getting better seemingly each week after a period of lackluster shows, and the timing couldn’t be more fitting as WrestleMania season is here.  With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the Feb. 27 edition of WWE SmackDown.

5. Opening Segment

Tuesday night’s SmackDown was headlined by the return of John Cena to the brand after he announced the night before he would head to the blue brand to try and find a road to WrestleMania.  And Big Match John kicked off the show in style while making his intentions clear.

Cena opened up the show to announce he wanted in on the WWE Championship match at Fastlane in just over a week.  Commissioner Shane McMahon then came out to address Cena’s intentions, as did GM Daniel Bryan soon after.

Bryan said, just like everybody else on the blue brand, Cena would get an opportunity to earn the right to be in the WWE Championship match at Fastlane by competing in a match later in the night.  That match would be against none other than the WWE Champion, AJ Styles in Tuesday night’s main event.

But as far as this opening segment of the night goes, it was very effective.  There was nothing shocking or out of the ordinary, but it did its job well and set up a huge main event featuring two of the greatest of all-time.  Plus, it’s nice to see Shane O’Mac and Bryan on the same page because let’s be honest, that doesn’t happen much anymore.

Big Match John along with SmackDown’s authority figures opening up the show was a solid way to kick off the show.

Final Grade: B+
