WWE: Bobby Fish May Have Been Injured at NXT Live Event

Multiple people who attended a WWE NXT Live Event in Indianapolis tonight have tweeted that Bobby Fish suffered an apparent knee injury.

It seems that Bobby Fish was injured earlier today during an NXT Live Event in Indianapolis. During a WWE NXT Tag Team Championship match against Heavy Machinery, Bobby Fish went down grasping at his knee. The referee had no choice but to throw up the “X.” The match continued, however, and Undisputed Era won via interference from Adam Cole (Baby-Bay!)

Fish was seen being helped to the back by event staff. Nothing is known about the extent of the injury as of now. But it appears to be a left leg injury.

Honestly, the injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Bobby Fish (though there is admittedly no good time for an injury). Next week marks the beginning of the Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic. The winner of that tournament will go on to face Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Titles. That match is scheduled to take place at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, a little over a month away on Apr. 7. Depending on the extent of the injury, it could impact their match.

Even if Fish wasn’t able to compete, all hope isn’t lost. As a member of the Undisputed Era, Adam Cole could step up to defend the titles under the Freebird Rule. The Freebird Rule allows any member of a stable can defend a tag team title. It was most recently used by SaNITy during their title reign.

Adam Cole is seemingly in a holding pattern, having most recently faced Cezar Bononi, and it would give Cole something to do heading into Mania season. Nevertheless, you hate seeing guys as talented at Fish go down with an injury.

We’ll keep you updated as the story develops, and we can only hope that Fish is OK.
