The March 6 edition of WWE SmackDown was all about building towards the Fastlane pay-per-view this coming Sunday as the brand-exclusive pay-per-view era comes to an end.

Last night’s WWE SmackDown wasn’t a brilliant show by no means, but it did focus on in-ring competition nicely and added quite a bit to certain storylines that will be focused on at Fastlane.

There were also more matches added to the Fastlane card last night as well that should help out the show.  With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the March 6 edition of WWE SmackDown.

5. Becky Lynch vs. Carmella

Two of the most underutilized women in the entire WWE over the past couple months have been Becky Lynch and Carmella.  Both have been very important pieces of the women’s evolution, but haven’t been in anything of significance in some time.

Carmella still owns the Money in the Bank briefcase and can cash in on a SmackDown Women’s Championship match at any time, but last night she was presented with another opportunity in a one-on-one match with Lynch, a former SmackDown Women’s Champion.

The two didn’t get much time, but they did about as much as they possibly could in the little time they were allowed.  There was a lot of physicality, some nice counters, and just an overall good match that did more than it probably should have done given how they were limited with how much time the match got.

But in the end, The Irish Lass Kicker made The Queen Of Staten Island tap out and picked up the victory.  Hopefully the WWE decides to give these two more significant TV time in the coming weeks, but one thing’s for sure, Carmella has to stay in the back of everyone’s minds as she carries a golden opportunity with her at seemingly all times.

It would have been even better if it went longer, but Lynch vs. Carmella was an enjoyable match that wouldn’t be bad to see again with more time.

Final Grade: B
