ROH Wrestling 16th Anniversary Show Predictions, How to Watch Live
ROH Wrestling celebrates 16 years of great shows and making stars on March 9th. The show emanates from Las Vegas, Nevada in front of a crowd that is already sold out. It features a main event between Jay Lethal & Dalton Castle battling over the ROH World Championship.
This show can be viewed in several ways. First, the preshow can be viewed on Facebook Live via ROH’s Facebook page. It can be purchased on traditional PPV through your cable provider, through Fite TV, and through ROH Honor Club. If you are a VIP member of Honor Club, you get the PPV with no additional charge. All standard Honor Club members can get the PPV for 50% off. If you’re neither, you can simply order the PPV at full price. The preshow starts at 8:30 EST, with the main show starting at 9:00 EST.
Facebook Live Pre-Show
Before the main show begins, there will be two Women of Honor matches held on Facebook Live for free for anyone interested in checking out the PPV. It’s a good way to get a little preview of the show for free and decide if you want to buy it.
Brandi Rhodes vs. Tenille Dashwood – Women of Honor Tournament
Brandi Rhodes is fresh off an upset win over Karen Q in the first round of the Women of Honor tournament. While Brandi is relatively new to the in ring side of wrestling, she is a Rhodes, and they are , if anything, opportunists. Tenille Dashwood, the former Emma of WWE, recently made her ROH debut to great fanfare. Dashwood made an impact right away, advancing in the Women of Honor tournament. Tenille will be looking to shut down Brandi in the second round, looking to advance onwards towards her goal of being ROH Women’s Champion.
Prediction: Tenille Dashwood
Sumie Sakai vs. Hana Kimura – Women of Honor Tournament
Sumie Sakai is one of the veterans of the women’s wrestling scene, and has been working hard for years to bring attention to women’s wrestling. This tournament is something that she worked for. Hana Kimura is one of the best upcoming talents in women’s wrestling, being a major player in the Stardom promotion. Hana is making her ROH debut here, and I expect this to be a good match.
Prediction: Hana Kimura
Main Card
After the Facebook Live preshow, the main show starts at 9:00 PM EST
Flip Gordon vs. Hiromu Takahashi (w/ Daryl)
Flip Gordon just came off his first tour of Japan, where he had a big win against Hiromu Takahashi and KUSIDA. He lost the following night in a tag match, being pinned by Takahashi. Here is the third match in their series. I expect that this will be an insane affair with both men flying all over the ring. Flip will definitely flip, and Hiromu will do a lot of his crazy spots. This marks the first one on one, and it should be very good.
Prediction: Hiromu Takahashi
The Young Bucks & Adam Page (c) vs. SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, & Scorpio Sky) – Vegas Street Fight – ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship
This match has been building for a few months now, as Christopher Daniels continues his war against The Bullet Club. Daniels wants to secure as much leverage over the ROH management as possible. Daniels, Kazarian, and Sky apparently know ROH’s plans for expansion and have threatened to tell their friends Allen in Georgia (AJ Styles), and Don in Canada (Don Callis?).
ROH responded by saying they won’t be renewing their contracts after Final Battle 2018 to protect the company. In the meantime, SoCal Uncensored are attempting to win as many titles as possible for leverage. To be honest, I’m not really a fan of this story. They haven’t sold me on it yet. However, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
The Bullet Club is looking to continue to their run at the top of wrestling with a win here. The recent problems in the Bullet Club between Kenny Omega & Cody may have spilled over to the rest of the group. However, so far, everyone has managed to keep it together. If they win here, they keep their dominance over the Six-Man tag titles.
Prediction: SoCal Uncensored
Punishment Martinez vs. Marty Scurll
Punishment Martinez has been on a roll, and looks to continue his momentum here. Marty Scurll has become one of the most popular members of the Bullet Club. Marty is looking to move onto bigger things, including potentially a ROH World Championship match. Martinez is eyeing gold as well. Expect this one to be a good one.
Prediction: Punishment Martinez
Cody vs. Matt Taven – Grudge Match
Since Cody has lost the ROH World Championship to Dalton Castle, Matt Taven has been a thorn in is side. Taven has taken Cody’s Ring of Honor (an actual, giant ring) and injured Cody’s eye in the process. Cody, while dealing with all the trouble in Bullet Club, keeps getting distracted by The Kingdom. Matt Taven refuses to be thought of as second class. This grudge match is very personal as Cody wants to move on, and Taven wants to make a huge impact.
Prediction: Cody
Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley) (c) vs. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) – ROH World Tag Team Championship
The Motor City Machine Guns have been dominating the tag team scene in ROH since defeating The Young Bucks for the titles. The Briscoes are extremely aggressive as of late, acting more and more heelish. The Briscoes want to remind people why they are one of the greatest tag teams in ROH history, and MCMG want people to think of them in that group too. This will be an absolutely excellent match.
Prediction: The Briscoes
Dalton Castle (w/ The Boys) (c) vs. Jay Lethal – ROH World Championship
Jay Lethal is one of the greatest champions in Ring of Honor history. He held the ROH Television Championship and ROH World Championship simultaneously where he defeated Jay Briscoe. Briscoe went undefeated for a year before losing the title to Lethal, so this was a huge win. Lethal has dominated the main event scene for a few years now, and has earned the “Franchise of ROH” moniker. Lethal wants to take his place at the top of the company again.
Dalton Castle has become one of the top stars in ROH for a few years now, but until Final Battle 2017, the World title eluded him. When he defeated Cody at Final Battle, the crowd celebrated his huge win. However, Castle has not had an easy run since then, defeating Punishment Martinez, and Trent Beretta & The Beer City Bruiser. Lethal, undoubtedly, will be the biggest test for Castle here.
Prediction: Dalton Castle
Next: Cody Rhodes: Is He Wrestling's Best Heel?
ROH’s 16th Anniversary Show is looking to be a very good show. If you have never watched ROH and want to check it out, this is a good place to start. If you have watched ROH before, you know what to expect. Some great wrestling and a lot of fun will be had by the people in attendance and those watching on TV.
