Why Braun Strowman Should Win the Tag Team Titles Alone

Braun Strowman just may be the most over superstar on the entire Monday Night Raw roster.

Thanks to an incredible 2017, Strowman received a monster push to match his mobster character. He worked an incredible feud with Roman Reigns during the summer, and went on to make incredible moments with Brock Lesnar.

But with WrestleMania days away, Strowman may just be in the most unique angle leading up to the show.

A few weeks ago, Strowman entered a battle royal to determine the #1 contender for the Raw Tag Team Championships. What’s ironic is the fact that he entered the match by himself, no tag team partner. What’s even more ironic is the fact that he won the match.

So because he won, Strowman does have the opportunity to compete for the Tag Team Championships. The problem is, as Kurt Angle keeps making it clear on Raw, Strowman needs a Tag Team Partner.

Many have been wondering and speculating who Strowman’s tag team partner may be. Some have speculated that it could be Elias, given the way the two have feuded in recent weeks. But probably one of the craziest speculations hasn’t even been made by a fan.

Since it was announced that Strowman needed a partner, fellow Raw member Curt Hawkins has taken to Twitter to try to get Strowman to allow him to be his partner.

As comedic as this is, this shouldn’t be the way WWE ought to go for this match. It certainly would make for some great storytelling, with Strowman doing all the work and Hawkins taking all the beating. However, to keep Strowman on the dominant run he’s on, he must win the titles alone.

For one, it is something that has never been done before at WrestleMania. The goal of every superstar is to have your “WrestleMania Moment”, and this would certainly be one. WWE is always trying to find the next memorable moment at WrestleMania, and what better than having someone win the tag team titles by themselves?

It also gives Strowman his first win at WrestleMania. Last year, he was a part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which he was eliminated early from. The year before that, he didn’t compete, but was a part of the segment featuring the Wyatt family, the Rock and John Cena.

So giving Strowman his first win at WrestleMania would absolutely happen. But not only that, his first win would also be a memorable win.

Strowman winning the titles also sets him up for a dominant run throughout the summer. If WWE were to book things right, things would go very interestingly leading up to SummerSlam. Strowman wins the Tag Team titles. After that, week after week, he decimates any team that tries to challenge him for the gold. Teams like the Revival, Titus Worldwide, Heath Slater and Rhyno, they all fall short of winning.

This could then allow for a few things to happen. It either allows the Bar to work their way back up in the title picture. And somehow, against all odds, they win the titles back. By doing so, beating the guy that won the titles on his own, it allows them to officially be the most dominant team on Raw.

The other option is the Authors of Pain. After WrestleMania, they move up to Raw. Throughout the summer, they desperately want to get their hands on the tag team titles, but can’t manage to beat Strowman.

And somehow, come SummerSlam, they manage to do so. It allows one monster of a man to go up against a monster of a tag team, and create beautiful chaos.

But that’s all in the future. What is important currently that come WrestleMania, Braun Strowman wins the Raw Tag Team Championships. He must do it alone. There can be no help. While a tag team featuring Braun Strowman would be interesting to see no doubt, it is not what his character needs right now.
