The WWE Universe had a feeling that The Miz, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor would cook up something special in their Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE WrestleMania 34. They totally delivered.

There’s no doubt that The Miz is one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time, and even though he lost the title at WWE WrestleMania 34 in a Triple Threat match with Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, the sheer quality of this match added to his legend as an elite IC Champion.

Rollins picked up the victory by hitting his “Stomp” on Balor immediately after Finn hit The Miz with a Coup De Grace, seemingly poised to take the victory. Then, The Kingslayer moved into the corner of the ring and repeatedly stomped on the canvas, ready to strike. And that he did. He stomped the reigning champion, The Miz, and pinned him to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.

The victory means that Rollins is now a Grand Slam champion, and he’s become the third member of The Shield to become a Grand Slam. Roman Reigns did so several months ago by winning the IC Title off of The Miz, and he is about to win the Universal Championship tonight against Brock Lesnar. So that shows you that Rollins is now a part of elite company.

Again, the match itself was absolutely tremendous, and it’s exactly what most fans expected. The Miz always goes all-out in big matches to make the IC Title the most prestigious title in the WWE, and this bout showed it.

This match was worked at a frenetic pace, and it was almost flawless. It’s difficult to pinpoint specific spots or do it justice verbally, so I’d recommend watching it if you haven’t already. There were some great counters, hard buckle bombs, a 1916, the trading of roll-ups, a beautiful crossbody to break up a submission, a beautiful Coup De Grace to break up a pin at the very last second, and a few of Balor’s and Rollins’s favorite spots rehashed in great ways. And oh, there was obviously a kick-out of the Skull Crushing Finale. How could there not be?

Finn didn’t show up as “The Demon” tonight, but he did make a great entrance in support of the LGBTQ community to show the world that the Balor Club is indeed for EVERYONE.

When all is said and done, this match will be remembered as one of the best IC Title matches in WWE history.
