Brock Lesnar Re-Signs With WWE, Will Defend Title At Greatest Royal Rumble

The main event of WWE WrestleMania 34 between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns is a match that will forever live in infamy, but it’s time to look to the future. And the future includes Lesnar’s next title defense, which the WWE has announced.

Brock Lesnar needed six F5s to defeat Roman Reigns, and the aftermath of the carnage left fans in shock. WWE WrestleMania 34 was supposed to be Roman’s big moment. It was supposed to be his big coronation. He was supposed to end Brock’s year-long romp across the main roster with the Universal Championship in his hands, being the hero to all the full-timers by defeating the lazy part-timer who beat him down week after week in the build-up to this WrestleMania matchup.

Instead, Reigns lay their in a poll of his own blood, defeated. The future is unclear for both Roman and Brock, but it’s hard to believe that this is over.

And indeed it isn’t.

While the WWE’s announcement that Lesnar has both re-signed and will defend the Universal Championship at the Greatest Royal Rumble, which will take place on Apr. 27 in Saudi Arabia and features several huge names such as Triple H and Daniel Bryan, answers some questions, it leaves many left to answer.

Like, firstly, has Lesnar actually re-signed for the long haul with the WWE instead of bolting to the UFC? Or is this a temporary contract until someone else takes the title and Lesnar goes for one last run with the UFC? Or is this all kayfabe? I’m guessing he’s actually been re-signed by the WWE as his contract did indeed expire, but in all honesty, we know very little about contracts in WWE due to the lack of information and understandable lack of transparency.

And here’s another question. Does Reigns win the big one here in front of a potentially more favorable crowd? Do they pull the trigger on Reigns’s first Universal Title run here instead of at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans? Because it’s hard to believe that the WWE is suddenly willing to have Brock destroy and bloody Reigns without eventually losing to the Big Dog.
