3. Naomi vs. Natalya
WrestleMania 34 saw the debut of the Women’s Battle Royal, a match giving all the women of the WWE a chance to shine on the grandest stage of them all. And as the dust cleared, nobody shined brighter in the match than the woman that makes everybody feel the glow.
Naomi won the battle royal to become its first-ever winner, which was a deserved opportunity for a very talented individual who has had a career resurgence over the past year to two years. She didn’t get a night off last night, however, and had a backstage interaction with Natalya earlier in the day that led to a match.
Natalya said Naomi didn’t deserve to win the battle royal and the two would settle their differences in the ring. For a match that was thrown together in a last-minute type of deal, it was a solid match. Both women had standout moments and showcased their individual talents nicely before Naomi made Natalya feel the glow and she got the win.
Hopefully the Women’s Battle Royal gives superstars better pushes than the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal has done so far in its existence, but Naomi is a great first winner of the match. As a former SmackDown Women’s Champion already, expect to see her back in the championship hunt sometime in the future.
Last night’s match between Naomi and Natalya wasn’t a flashy part of the show, but it resulted in a solid encounter to further Naomi’s momentum following WrestleMania 34.
