3. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson
When the WWE signed the duo of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows in April of 2016, it appeared, to some at least, like a major signing. The previous three year period for this team had been a very successful one as they started teaming up in the Summer of 2013. In that span, Gallows and Anderson would win three IWGP Tag Team Championships under the New Japan Pro Wrestling banner and also were the 2013 winners of the vaunted World Tag League in NJPW. So in coming to the WWE the tandem looked they’d make an immediate impact and things started off great. They immediately linked up with former Bullet Club member AJ Styles and assisted him in attempting to win the WWE Championship. Then, the following January, “The Good Brothers” captured the RAW Tag Team Championships.
However, after a mere 63 day title reign, they dropped the belts at WrestleMania to the returning Hardy Boyz. The rest of 2017 was fairly uneventful for Gallows and Anderson and outside of a quick reunion with another former Bullet Club member, Finn Balor, the team has been pretty quiet. Now with the move to Thursday nights, they get a fresh start and an opportunity to prove to the WWE Universe that their accomplishments in Japan were no accident.
Now, it won’t be smooth sledding for Gallows and Anderson. With The Bludgeon Brothers, The Usos, The New Day, and another newly traded team in 4-time RAW Tag Champions, The Bar, the blue brand’s tag team division is loaded with talent. But that might be exactly why these two would fit in so well. And don’t be shocked to see them reunite with Styles again. With a slew of challengers in the champions wake, he may need some backup.
It may take some time before the duo strikes gold, but it’s very evident that their stock on SmackDown is going to be leaps and bounds higher than it was on RAW.
