Impact Wrestling: Katarina Waters Is Making Her Return

At Impact Wrestling’s Redemption Pay Per View, Tessa Blanchard shocked wrestling fans by making a surprise appearance. While today’s announced addition to the Knockouts Division isn’t nearly as surprising, Katarina Waters’s return to Impact will also be well-received by a reinvigorated fanbase.

Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts Division is one of the premier women’s divisions in all of professional wrestling. At Redemption, the women had two matches, with Kiera Hogan and Taya Valkyrie battling it out before Allie successfully defended her Knockouts Championship against Su Yung in a solid, action-packed match.

The future of the Knockouts Division is certainly bright, as Tessa Blanchard is a big-name addition to a group that includes some of the best women’s wrestlers around, such as Rosemary.

Today, Impact is taping their next set of television shows following Redemption, and they publicly announced that Katarina Waters has rejoined the Knockouts Division.

Waters, who once wrestled in WWE, was a part of TNA from 2010 to early 2012. She had a great career with the promotion, winning the Knockouts Championship twice. And with Angelina Love (the one who used Linkin Park’s “Papercut” as her theme), Waters was also a one-time Knockouts Tag Team Champion.

We are certainly headed for some exciting times in the Knockouts Division going forward, and it will be interesting to see what role Waters plays. I’m almost certain she’ll be a babyface, so could she be Blanchard’s first feuds? It’s likely Allie will be preoccupied with Taya, and she should have a lengthy reign as Knockouts Champion. Allie is on fire right now as one of the most likeable babyfaces in wrestling, and her win over Su Yung (and Braxton Sutter) at Redemption is huge.

Impact, of course, needs to keep building other feuds in their Knockouts Division, and having someone like Waters will help them in that goal. I’m looking forward to see when she gives the division a little “Ice-breaker” upon her return.
