ROH Wrestling: Dalton Castle vs. Matt Taven Announced For World Title
ROH Wrestling has enjoyed a great deal of success lately, as they are fresh off the heels of their most-attended show to date. They’ll look to follow that up in early May with their “War of the Worlds” shows, and they’ve announced a world title match between Dalton Castle and Matt Taven in Lowell, Massachusetts to start things off.
I have to say that Dalton Castle has become one of my favorite professional wrestlers in the entire world, and it’s because the man has the total package. Not only does Castle have one of the best characters in all of wrestling, but he’s also a beast in between the ropes. If you haven’t seen his work yet, I’d highly recommend watching his successful title defense against Jay Lethal. That was his “this guy is a great champion” match.
ROH Wrestling has announced that Castle will defend the ROH World Championship against Matt Taven on Wednesday, May, 9 in Lowell, Massachusetts. The match will take place on the first day of the four-day “War of the Worlds” tour. These shows are some of Ring of Honor’s best of 2018, because they combine talent from NJPW and ROH. So yeah, you really do get the best of both worlds with these shows.
There’s little doubt that Castle will have another successful title defense against Taven, but this should still be an exciting match. Taven’s work as the leader of “The Kingdom” has been exceptional, and he’s a big name in ROH. His feud with Cody and the Bullet Club was quite good, as he matched Cody as an entertainer at times. That isn’t easy to do.
According to the press release on their site, other big names advertised for the shows are Jay Lethal, Cody, Tetsuya Naito, and IWGP United States Champion (and one of 2018’s breakout stars) Jay White.

Exciting times are ahead in the month of May for Ring of Honor fans, and I will be intrigued to see what tactics Taven pulls. He’ll have some help from “The Kingdom” against Castle and “The Boys” for sure, but I have no doubt that the resilient Castle will find a way to win.
