The April 23 edition of WWE Raw was the first episode of Raw post-superstar shakeup and the brand served up many of its new superstars into potential new storylines.

Last night’s WWE Raw was a successful night in most cases, especially when considering the new members of the brand who made an impact and how their potential futures look.

Not everything clicked, however, with certain superstars failing to impress and risking to get lost in the shuffle.  With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the April 23 edition of WWE Raw.

5. Bobby Roode’s Future On Raw Potentially Flashes Before His Eyes

One of the most controversial moves of the 2018 superstar shakeup was Bobby Roode’s switch over to Monday nights.  The Glorious One is supremely talented, but many question how his direction will be on the red brand.

As it turns out, last night might have signified his direction won’t be the greatest after all, at least for the time being.  After being part of a 10-man tag team match during his first night on the brand, he was pitted against Elias last night in the first match of the night after interrupting Elias’ pre-match concert of sorts.

The match itself was pretty good, but Roode lost by a roll-up.  It’s not a bad thing to lose to Elias given how over he is with most crowds, but last night might have been a sign of things to come for The Glorious One in terms of his status on the red brand.

Many questioned how his direction would be on Monday nights, and a random match with Elias doesn’t scream direction.  If the WWE isn’t careful, Roode could be set for random matches and pointless feuds for weeks and months to come given how the company tends to let many of its stars get lost in the shuffle.  Many fans want Roode to turn heel as he was in NXT and quite frankly, that is probably the best move possible for his character.

The Glorious One hasn’t found that NXT spark on the main roster yet and if the WWE doesn’t handle his character the right way, he might never find it.
