Winner: Chad Gable

So yes, there’s usually a winner and loser in a WWE match and with Mahal being labelled a “loser” from Monday night, one would think that would make Chad Gable an automatic winner. But for Gable it wasn’t just that he physically won on Monday night that has him on this list, it was what that win represents for the 32 year-old Minnesotan. In defeating Mahal, a former WWE Champion, Gable’s victory is without question the biggest of his career and something that may send him on a path that could end in him wearing singles gold.

Since making his debut in NXT back in September of 2014, Gable had been primarily used as a tag team wrestler. He almost immediately teamed up with Jason Jordan to form the team American Alpha the following May. The duo would go on to win the NXT Tag Team Championships while delighting NXT fans with their intense, never say die charisma.

However, it always seemed like Gable, the smaller and less polished of the two team members was the superstar with less potential. However, after American Alpha split from the SmackDown roster last July, Gable got a chance to shine as a singles competitor and shine he did. Although unsuccessful, he had a couple of terrific matches with Kevin Owens and AJ Styles for the United States Championship. Suddenly, after looking like an afterthought, Gable breathed new life into his career.

After a somewhat ho-hum pairing with Shelton Benjamin ended during the Superstar Shakeup, Gable looks to go at it alone once again. And now with a massive win in his pocket just a couple weeks into his newest singles run, he has a very real chance of being a major player on Monday nights. A singles win on an episode of RAW may not be the most impressive thing of all-time, but for Gable, it may just have been the biggest moment of his career.
