Nikki Cross & Steffanie (Nixon) Newell

When Eric Young, Sawyer Fulton, and Alexander Wolfe were all announced as new members of the SmackDown Live roster, one had to wonder why their SAnitY stablemate Nikki Cross didn’t make the leap as well. However, this could be a big opportunity for Cross to venture out on her own and make a name for herself without the large shadow of her former stablemates.

And although Cross may be more well served as a loner, if she had to team up with anyone than why not fellow United Kingdom superstar, Steffanie Newell.

Newell is one of the best young prospects in all of NXT and even at just 23 years old is already a independent wrestling champion on two continents. Pairing with the older, more experienced Cross may be exactly what Newell needs to acclimate herself on a larger stage.

This could be a boom or bust type team. They could go all the way to the gold or blow up immediately due to Cross’ erratic behavior. And if the latter happens, this could be one heck of a feud too.

Bianca Belair & Lacey Evans

Now this one, THIS one, has dollar signs written all over it. Belair and Evans are sure-fire superstars who just haven’t had their chance yet. Making them a dominant tag team to kick off the NXT Women’s division would not just give them more exposure, but notoriety as well. There is no doubt that the two would feed perfectly off each other as they both bring a level of smug, heelish behavior that would undoubtedly make them stand out.

Much like Gonzalez and Borne, Belair and Evans are home-grown talents but as of right now, they’re the ones who look currently poised for bigger things. They both won a round in the Mae Young Classic and since then have been on an upward trajectory that many have noticed. Also, the duo just tagged up together on an April 21st house show defeating LeRae and Sane. Could that be a sign on things to come?

Evans and Belair could very easily be the most intriguing pairing that NXT could drum up. Their combination of arrogance and skill would put them right in line with any potential heel tag team that could be assembled. If this happens, watch out.
