How We Get There:

The best way to being any new division is of course, a tournament to crown the inaugural champions. As of this writing, its April 23rd, which is just a little less than two months away from the next major NXT event which is TakeOver: Chicago on June 16th. That should be plenty of time set up a field of teams to vie for the spot in that show with the brand new belts on the line.

Now, four teams may be enough to get the division off the ground as far as television programming goes but a four-team tournament doesn’t sound expansive enough. However, the WWE has plenty of talent that they employ from around the globe that are not signed to exclusive contracts. Heck, 18 of the 32 contestants in the Mae Young Classic were not signed to WWE contracts. They would have to tap into that field in order to beef up this tournament to make it look all the more impressive. It would be tremendous to see names like Toni Storm, Rachel Ellering, Piper Niven, and Mia Yim get another chance to impress in a WWE ring.

However, there are also some intriguing other superstars who are signed to contracts that have not been mentioned who could very easily team up as well. Chinese born superstars Xia Li and Zeda make sense together. Taynara Conti and Alyihah have potential as a tandem. And also any combination of Rhea Ripley, Kavita Devi, and former American Ninja Warrior contestant, Kacy Catanzaro, who just made her debut last week, would all be welcome sights for the inaugural division.

But at the end of the day, the first four teams mentioned should be the ones rounding out the final field. And whether it’s an 8 or 16 team tournament, the battle to get to Chicago should be a very challenging one.
