3. SmackDown Women’s Championship Contract Signing
History was made nearly a year ago when Carmella won the first-ever, and then second-ever, women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. And some 10 months later, she made history again by successfully cashing in her opportunity to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion.
Many fans were starting to believe she would unsuccessfully cash in and lose her title opportunity, but thanks to The IIconics, she was able to convert. Former champion Charlotte Flair, however, doesn’t want to wait to regain her title and last night was all about the two signing a contract to make the rematch official for the Backlash pay-per-view.
Carmella made it very entertaining before Charlotte joined the picture by pulling out more heelish tendencies. She told the fans they all had to stand up and give her a round of applause once her video package finishes, but once that didn’t happen to her liking, the video began playing again before The Queen finally interrupted it.
Once Charlotte was in the ring, things simmered down to an extent before The Queen left Carmella laying underneath the table in the ring before both signed the contract. It was a solid segment and even though it slowed down once the two were in the ring together, Carmella’s character really shined throughout this segment tremendously.
The crafty SmackDown Women’s Champion could be in the for the fight of her life at Backlash with The Queen looking to take the throne back.
