ROH Wrestling: Austin Aries Will Challenge Silas Young For TV Title

Silas Young calls himself the “Last Real Man”, and Austin Aries calls himself “The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived”, so it’s only fitting that the two will battle it out in ROH Wrestling’s “War of the Worlds” show in Chicago.

Impact Wrestling has shown that they are interested in working closely with other promotions, taking the ultimate step in this regard by putting their world championship around Pentagon Jr. Austin Aries was the man who dropped the title to Pentagon Jr. at the “Redemption” PPV in a Triple Threat match that also involved Rey Fenix, and it appears Aries will be used to reach out to ROH Wrestling.

Aries, of course, is a legend in ROH as a former two-time world champion. He appeared on an episode of Ring of Honor Television recently to challenge former Television Champion Kenny King. However, King lost the title to Silas Young and successfully defended against Flip Gordon at ROH’s most recent television episode.

As such, Ring of Honor has announced that Aries will face Young on May 13 in Chicago at the War of the Worlds show. The match will be for Young’s Television Championship, and it should be a great match. Young and Gordon put together a good match on television, but this bout between Young and Aries could be even better. Their styles mesh perfectly, and this match should be both hard-hitting and filled with athletic moves.

Nobody should expect Aries to defeat Young for the Television Title, but Aries’s appearance in this match does a lot to raise the legitimacy of this title. ROH honestly could afford to do a better job of raising the profile of this belt by building up feuds over the TV Title more, but involving Aries helps in a huge way.

This mach between Aries and Young is a part of what should be a stacked Chicago show for War of the Worlds, which will feature LIJ vs. Bullet Club in the main event. Women of Honor Champion Sumie Sakai is also signed to the show.
