AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura For The WWE Championship

Shinsuke Nakamura has failed to defeat AJ Styles on three separate occasions, but he’s only truly lost to AJ once. At the Greatest Royal Rumble, Nakamura and Styles fought to a double count-out, and a similar result occurred at Backlash after dual low-blows. While some members of the WWE Universe are concerned that Nakamura is in trouble after failing to capture the WWE Championship despite all the chances he’s received (including in 2017 against Jinder Mahal), his work has a heel has been so brilliant that he’s at little risk of becoming an afterthought.

That said, Nakamura could really use a WWE Championship victory. Unfortunately, if Styles’s lengthy run with the title comes to an end, the belt could end up in Samoa Joe’s hands. Joe has yet to win a title in WWE, too, and he always talks up a big game. Joe’s promo work is up there with the best of them, as he put himself on the map in 2017 during his feud with Brock Lesnar, which ended in a dud of a match at Great Balls of Fire.

If Styles, Joe, and Nakamura end up fighting for the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat match at Money in the Bank 2018, it surely wouldn’t be a dud. Perhaps Styles, as the lone babyface, would retain the title yet again, but it does seem like it’s time for Joe or Nakamura to shine with the title. Plus, if Joe wins, he could be the perfect beast for Daniel Bryan to take down at SummerSlam. And then The Miz could cash-in on Bryan…

Future fantasy booking aside, Joe stated prior to Backlash that he’s gunning for the main title on SmackDown Live (as he should be). Sure, he lost to Roman Reigns, but he’ll force his way into this match. Nakamura and Styles clearly aren’t done with each other either, so the natural expectation is for them to have a match. However, this will come with a twist in the form of an all-out Triple Threat involving Joe, and it will qualify as a dream match that involves three of the biggest stars in professional wrestling.

Prediction: Samoa Joe pins AJ Styles (protects Nakamura a bit)
