In this week’s Impact Wrestling power rankings, Brian Cage maintained his stranglehold at the top, the women’s division holds steady, and Eli Drake suffers a bit of a stumble.

The most recent episode of Impact Wrestling wasn’t as eventful as usual, but there were still some memorable moments. LAX shined in tag team action, Eddie Edwards managed to convince Impact management to keep Sami Callihan around, a new No. 1 contender for the X Division Title was crowned, and Eli Drake battled Pentagon Jr. for the Impact World Title in the show’s main event.

Although there weren’t many ripple effects in the power rankings, a few wrestlers moved spots after another week of Impact action.

10. Eli Drake (Impact Tag Team Champion)

I was surprised by how quickly Eli Drake’s match against Pentagon Jr. ended. While I didn’t expect Drake to win against the newly-crowned champion, he kind of looks impatient for using his World Title briefcase so quickly. I found it interesting that he didn’t want Scott Steiner’s help. Drake’s pride may have been his downfall, and I wonder if Steiner and Drake will have a falling out as a result of this.

The loss to Pentagon Jr. causes Drake to fall a few spots in this week’s power rankings, but it isn’t a big deal by any means. In fact, Drake is probably headed for an even more interesting program in the near future, because I think he’ll challenge Austin Aries for the Impact Grand Championship. Even so, someone had to fall this week, and because of the nature of his loss, that person had to be Drake.

9. Tessa Blanchard

She didn’t have a match this week, and I like that Impact is saving her in-ring debut. But Tessa Blanchard did get a video package, and it was awesome. Blanchard told the audience exactly who she is and what she’s about. I just can’t wait to watch her kick some ass on Thursday nights.
