1. Kevin Owens Adds Legitimate Contender To Money In The Bank Ladder Match

One can make the argument that Kevin Owens has been the top heel in the WWE over the past year or so.  His heelish ways really got going with his feud with SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon a several months ago, but now on the red brand, Owens has become a thorn in GM Kurt Angle’s side.

KO lost a Money in the Bank qualifying match to Braun Strowman last week, but got a chance to win the Intercontinental Championship from Seth Rollins last night.  And much like the match with Strowman, Owens came up short and failed to win the title.  It appeared as if his night was over, but a backstage interaction with Angle showed a sign of things to come.

Owens said he wanted another shot to qualify for Money in the Bank, but Angle refused initially.  However, Owens called commissioner Stephanie McMahon and she ordered Angle to put Owens in the Triple Threat Match featuring Bobby Lashley and Elias later in the night.  KO filled Jinder Mahal’s spot in that match and he wouldn’t let the opportunity go to waste.

Thanks to interference by friend Sami Zayn, Owens was able to win the match and qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match.  Owens has a knack for butting heads with authority figures, sometimes literally, and that trend is continuing on Monday nights.  It should be interesting to see where this development goes next.
