Result: TJP Wins with the Tyler Driver

Tyler Bate was the first out, and the most notable thing for me here was how disappointingly muted the crowd were for a home-grown performer. The audience in attendance took a while to get into proceedings during 205 Live, and while it didn’t damage the quality of this match, it certainly would have been nicer if they had appreciated it more.

As far as in-ring work goes, this was a really good, and really fun encounter. The fact that this was a one-off episode of the show meant that it could have easily felt like a house-show, but with the commentators selling the upcoming UK tournament, it felt like there was something to be gained from these matches.

TJP, in particular, put on one of his best performances in a long time, and Tyler Bate was also very impressive.

Bate picked up the win after a really entertaining match, which saw the styles of all four performers mesh together really well. Bate seems destined to become a permanent fixture on 205 Live at some point in the future, and based on last night’s performance, I have no problem with that whatsoever. This was a really good way of kicking off the show.
