The May 15 edition of WWE SmackDown was a solid show that further developed the Money In The Bank pay-per-view and also saw the debut of a former NXT standout.

Last night’s WWE SmackDown saw its fair share of impressive in-ring action with much of it directly affecting the Money In The Bank pay-per-view next month.

The blue brand still has a couple spots to fill for both upcoming Money in the Bank ladder matches, but it’s off to a good start so far.  With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the May 15 edition of WWE SmackDown.

5. Opening Segment

Many fans began fantasizing about who Daniel Bryan would feud with when he was officially cleared to return to in-ring competition.  And at the same time, not many probably imagined it would turn out to be Big Cass.

Cass returned shortly after WrestleMania 34 from injury and immediately set his sights on Bryan.  He wanted to take him out at Backlash, but ended up tapping out and losing to Bryan.  Although Cass did beat him down after that match, it was still Bryan’s night to shine.

Last night’s show opened up with an interview in the ring with Bryan before he was interrupted by Big Cass.  Cass went on a tirade towards Bryan, sounding like a delusional heel that talks out of both sides of his mouth.  But when Cass hit the ring, The Yes Man wasn’t putting up with the disrespect anymore and he took the fight to the seven-footer.

Bryan went after Cass’s injured leg and wore it out.  He was relentless in his attack of Cass and wouldn’t take the vocal shots anymore.  This was a pretty solid segment from top to bottom, even if some of the dialogue Cass said didn’t make the most sense.  But it also makes Cass look like an even bigger cowardly heel.

The Yes Man was enraged last night and Big Cass’s leg felt the brunt of it in a relatively solid opening segment of the night.

Final Grade: B
