WWE SmackDown Live: Is It Becky Lynch’s Time?

After a series of heartbreaking losses on WWE SmackDown Live, is it finally Becky Lynch’s time in the WWE?

WWE SmackDown Live is known as the ‘Land of Opportunity’. While the brand has stayed true to this mantra in the case of Jinder Mahal, Breezango and Naomi, the same can’t be said about Becky Lynch. One among the Four Horsewomen that revolutionized Women’s wrestling in the WWE, Lynch is yet to have that signature moment in her main roster career.

Ever since the brand split, she has been part of SmackDown Live. The start of her run on the blue brand was spectacular. She was a heavy favorite to win the inaugural Women’s title and no one on the roster was really a threat to her. Lynch rode a ton of momentum heading into that title match and came away as the winner and the unquestionable fighting face of the Women’s division on Tuesday night.

However, at TLC, Lynch would lose the title to Alexa Bliss who then skyrocketed herself to main event level heel from then on. Lynch on the other hand often stood in the background as the underdog. In many ways, one can draw parallels between her and Sami Zayn. However, Zayn had turned heel and that has sparked some momentum in his career.

Lynch on the other hand has remained a pure babyface. Moreover, with the inclusion of both Charlotte Flair and Asuka on SmackDown Live, her position at the top of the division has been heavily compromised. She would have fared much better had she been drafted to Raw and had the opportunity to mix it up with Sasha Banks and Bayley.

Most recently, Lynch would lose to Mandy Ross of all people via a surprise roll-up. This was the bottom of the list. But after her signature win this week, which earned her a spot on the Money in the Bank match, Lynch’s time might once again be here.

She outlasted fierce competition in the form of Mandy Ross and Sonya Deville. The match would end with her convincingly tapping out Ross with the Dis-arm-her, exorcising the demons of her past losses along with it. Lynch can now look forward to her next conquest; the Money in the Bank contract.

Perhaps, winning the briefcase might renew the spark in her main roster run. The briefcase always works best with heels or babyfaces who have gone rogue after winning it. Will Lynch follow that familiar dark path? Moreover, will she continue to pick up more wins in the weeks ahead and establish herself at the top of the division once again?
