WWE Money in the Bank 2018 Match Card Predictions Version 2.0
Carmella (c) vs. Asuka For The SmackDown Women’s Championship
Perhaps nobody in WWE has done a better job of talking trash lately than Carmella, who is also the company’s undisputed master of the moonwalk. Mella is money, but even though she’s more money than a long list of WWE Superstars and celebrities, that won’t be enough to help her vanquish Asuka at Money in the Bank.
Asuka has been itching for another opportunity at the SmackDown Women’s Championship after losing her undefeated streak to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34. Although the Empress of Tomorrow took the loss surprisingly well, even proclaiming that Charlotte was ready for Asuka immediately after the match, I’ll bet she’s seething underneath.
I can’t find a single person who expects Carmella to walk out of this match *still* the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Even though Carmella will claim to be twice as good as Asuka (because she beat Charlotte twice and Asuka couldn’t beat Charlotte once), the transitive property doesn’t exactly work here.
Carmella beat Charlotte in fluky (yet clean!) fashion at Backlash, but I don’t see her replicating that result. Asuka wasn’t given a chance to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match, and she hasn’t been on television for weeks since getting a big pop during a tag match. She’s ready to be a champion, and Carmella is ready to move on to something else after proving to be one of WWE’s most entertaining champs this year. Like, seriously, her promos were money.
Prediction: Asuka
