WWE Money in the Bank 2018 Match Card Predictions Version 2.0
Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas For The United States Championship
In his first two appearances on SmackDown Live, Andrade “Cien” Almas has defeated local talent in squash matches. This has caused his business associate Zelina Vega to rail against SmackDown Live for not giving Cien some real competition. I expect Vega and Almas to take matters into their own hands, targeting United States Champion Jeff Hardy, who recently lost a second chance Money in the Bank qualifying match to Daniel Bryan, in the hopes of taking his title.
Almas would be a dream United States Champion, and he’d help restore the prestige of that belt. Jeff Hardy has done a good job of improving the status of the US Title since taking it off of Jinder Mahal on Raw, but Almas and Vega can take things to the next level.
Hardy has been banged up in the ring lately, and it would be best for him to drop the US Title so he doesn’t need to have the responsibility of defending it each week. By Money in the Bank, Hardy will have held the US Championship for about two months, so that isn’t a bad reign by any means.
While Hardy has been solid as the champion, Almas is special. As NXT Champion, he produced some of the best matches in the history of the WWE’s third brand, including a legitimate five-star match with Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia. Putting the US Title on Almas would show the WWE Universe that the company is both serious about the title and serious about presenting Almas as one of its stars on SmackDown Live.
Prediction: Andrade “Cien” Almas
