The May 22 edition of WWE SmackDown was an important show for the blue brand in building towards the Money In The Bank pay-per-view and the brand did a stellar job of that building.
Last night’s WWE SmackDown saw another participant added to the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match as well as a key stipulation for the WWE Championship match at the pay-per-view.
There was some solid in-ring action last night as well and the blue brand has a lot of momentum heading into next month’s pay-per-view. With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the May 22 edition of WWE SmackDown.
5. Opening Segment
The Miz returned back to Tuesday nights via the superstar shakeup and since making the move, he has already gotten off to a solid start. That continued last night with the opening segment of the night, the most must-see WWE talk show in history, Miz TV.
The A-Lister’s guests were Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods, The New Day. The trio got the opportunity to include one of its members into the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match next month and The Miz had hopes of finding out which member would be the lucky one.
This segment was stellar from the start with both sides keeping it real with the other. Miz talked about each individual member of The New Day and despite how much success they have had as a team, they haven’t had the same amount of success as singles competitors. The New Day responded by keeping it real with The Miz as well.
It ended with some New Day-like pancake throwing towards The Miz, who tried to back out on his statement that he could beat any member of The New Day. The only thing that would have made this segment any better was if it would have actually revealed who would be the member of The New Day in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Outside of that, this was a very solid opening segment and one of the best Miz TV’s in a long time by the same token.
