4. The Miz vs. Big E

Last night’s opening segment of Miz TV featuring The New Day was a very solid way to open up the show.  Not only would it lead to a memorable edition of Miz TV, but it also led to a match between The Miz and one of the members of The New Day.

It appeared as if The Miz was walking out on his statement that he could beat any member of The New Day, but just when he made it backstage, SmackDown GM Paige had other ideas.  She put Miz in a match with Big E, who Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods both selected to battle The Miz should he take up his offer of facing a member of The New Day.

The match turned out better than expected initially with a lot of solid back and forth action.  It seemed like for a minute that Big E was going to get the win, but interference from The Bar on the outside changed the match.  Kofi and Woods turned their attention to Sheamus and Cesaro, but the distraction was enough in the end to cost Big E.

The Miz caught Big E by surprise and hit him with a skull crushing finale to get the win.  It seems like Big E could get the nod to be in the Money in the Bank ladder match, regardless of the outcome of this match.  Even in defeat, he impressed and showed that he is more than capable of holding his own in a marquee match.

Money In The Bank aside, The Miz’s battle with Big E last night was a solid match that probably helped both men in the end.

Final Grade: B
