Not turning him heel

We get it. Roman Reigns is a big, bad dude that can hurt anyone on the WWE roster on any given night. He’s someone that the men in the crowd are supposed to want to be like and the women are supposed to opine for. However, that message isn’t getting over with the crowd. Instead, there’s an overall disdain for everything he does. While that’s not fully his fault, it’s time the WWE recognizes that they will not be able to get any sympathy thrown his way. In light of that, creative should turn him into a heel character. But with one caveat, they have to be exceptionally careful in the way they do so.

Right now, the “cool” thing to do in wrestling is to hate on Roman Reigns. It’s getting to the point in which people don’t even know why they are booing him. The turn to heel must be a careful process that catches fans off guard and forces them to have a visceral reaction of hatred with his new character. To do so the organization needs to leverage one of the “white meat” baby faces on the roster, one such as Daniel Bryan, to help provoke that feeling of hatred for Reigns. This isn’t as simple as the frequent heel to face turns that Randy Orton or the Big Show have gone through for years; instead, this needs to be a drawn our process with long-term investment.

Unfortunately for the WWE, they may have missed the boat on this option. After years of pushing Reigns to the forefront in hopes that the WWE Universe would embrace him; they’ve potentially ruined what could have been a phenomenal heel turn.
