Carmella (c) vs. Asuka For The SmackDown Women’s Championship

I don’t think WWE is going to mess around here. They are going to end Carmella’s run as the SmackDown Women’s Champion and put the title on Asuka, who will likely have a filler feud with Sonya Deville before moving on to a program with the IIconics. Then, she’ll feud with the top stars on SmackDown Live, because this women’s division is no longer short on talent.

Carmella believes she’s twice the competitor that Asuka is, pointing out that she’s defeated Charlotte Flair twice, whereas Asuka blew her title shot at WrestleMania 34 against “The Queen”. With Carmella on commentary, Asuka showed The Princess of Staten Island what she’s all about, defeating Mandy Rose with one of the smoothest transitions into the Asuka Lock that you’ll see. She did this after surviving a pre-match beatdown from Deville, too.

The crowd has always been behind Asuka, because she’s just such an electrifying performer when she’s in the ring. Asuka makes herself feel special, and she’s one of those “does more with less” characters. I’m excited to see her as the SmackDown Women’s Champion, and I don’t think WWE should hold off on putting the title around her waist. It’s been her time to shine, and I hope Asuka leads the SmackDown Women’s Division to a great run in 2018.

Prediction: Asuka wins the title
