WWE NXT: Results, Grades and Analysis for May 30th
By Liam Hoofe
The build for NXT Takeover: Chicago continued this week on an action-packed edition of NXT
Following the explosive events of last week’s NXT, which saw Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano come face to face in the night’s closing segment, this week’s show continued the brand’s journey towards NXT Takeover: Chicago, which will take place in two weeks this Saturday.
NXT champion Aleister Black was set to make his return to the show after being absent for the last few weeks and would find out his opponent for Takeover: Chicago. While in the night’s main event, Shayna Baszler, after weeks of tormenting Dakota Kai, would defend her NXT women’s title against her victim. With Nikki Cross lurking in the shadows though, things might not go exactly as planned for the champion.
This was also to be a night where the focus would be on several of the brand’s newer stars, with tag team The War Raiders in action, and EC3 and Ricochet also competing on the show, the latter’s opponent also being a debutant, Chirs Dijack, also known as Donovan Dijak. Ricochet would also have to contend with his on-going feud with Velveteen Dream on the show, after Dream attacked him during last week’s episode.
There’s plenty to unpack from last night’s NXT, so let’s break down the night’s segments and matches and find out what went down.
