2. Will Elias challenge for the Intercontinental title?
So last week I discussed what lies ahead for Elias. A move to the IC title picture would be a huge boost for him and a fresh change of pace compared to his lackluster feud with Bobby Roode and the rest. But it also meant he could potentially come out on the losing side as Rollins has been doing a phenomenal job with the title.
This week, the Architect faced off against Jinder Mahal for the IC title and Elias more than sufficiently played into the action. The ending, where Rollins drew the disqualification by hitting Mahal with a chair might mean we would see more of this pairing. It could also have been a way to keep the Modern Day Maharaja protected prior to his match with Roman Reigns.
But it is very possible that next week we see Rollins vs Elias in some fashion. It could be in a singles match or it could be a tag match with Mahal and Reigns in the mix as well. Whatever the case may be, the odds of the Drifter getting a shot at the IC title seems like a genuine case all the sudden.
Elias has done a great job and quite honestly he deserves whatever title opportunities that comes his way. But on the flip side, Rollins has been on fire and has been carrying the show while Lesnar and his Universal title have slowly become a myth. Creative are backing themselves against a wall at this point by having Rollins and Elias lock horns.
