1. What will creative do to elevate the United States title?

SmackDown Live had always done a great job of elevating the mid-card titles. The job creative team did with the IC title on Tuesday nights was nothing short of extraordinary. Over the past couple of years, the IC title has become one of the most prized possessions in all of WWE, especially since the Universal title is nowhere to be seen.

The United States title however, has not had the same level of success so far. Of course, SmackDown held a tournament to crown a new champion and Bobby Roode came away the winner, before losing it to Jinder Mahal. After Jeff Hardy returned to Tuesday nights with the belt, it has sort of been a secondary title.

While a part of it is due to the WWE title being represented every week by AJ Styles, creative could and should have done something more with the mid-card championship. This week, Hardy was not a part of the action. The week before, he competed against Daniel Bryan for a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match.

There is a large talent pool of stars on Tuesday night that can give Hardy a run for his gold. This week we saw how good Tye Dillinger can be given the opportunity. How about a US title shot for the Perfect Ten? What about the likes of Shelton Benjamin and/or Randy Orton? These men haven’t been in TV over the past couple of weeks.

Even someone like Big Cass, whose feud with Daniel Bryan needs to end soon can vouch for a shot at the secondary title. More title defenses and regular appearance by the Champion can make it a relevant Championship in the WWE again. However, am not sure Hardy is the right person for the job at the moment. When you watch his matches you can really see he has begun to slow down. Perhaps its high time to pass on the title to a younger and hungrier performer looking to make a name for himself.
