6. Matt Sydal, X Division Champion

Following Brian Cage’s victory over Dezmond Xavier, Matt Sydal’s future outlook as Impact’s X Division Champion just took a huge hit. Cage’s win over Xavier, which marks the second time that he’s pinned the promising X Division wrestler, means that he’s guaranteed a future opportunity at Sydal’s title, which has been consistently defended against all comers by the consummate professional.

It will be interesting to see when Sydal has his match with Cage, who obviously remains undefeated in Impact. There’s no doubt that Cage lives up to his “Machine” moniker, but Sydal has also become a ruthlessly efficient wrestler in the ring. He’s smart, he grounds his opponents with crafty submission holds, and he has an out-of-nowhere finisher that he can hit from all sorts of awkward positions. Cage is a huge mis-match for Sydal in a literal sense, but we all know that this version of Sydal isn’t afraid to cheat to win.

5. Allie

I still can’t believe Allie lost the Knockouts Championship to Su Yung, especially since she came oh-so-close to defeated her challenger at Under Pressure twice. Allie already defeated Yung before at Redemption, but the “Last Rites” match clearly played into Yung’s hands. This loss is, in a way, and opportunity for Allie, because people like her who show great character are often far more dangerous after suffering a setback. I expect Allie to go on a rampage, and the darkness that she’s embraced may soon end up possessing her.
