2. Nia Jax Isn’t A Heel Quite Yet
The Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax greatly benefited from an anti-bullying storyline with Alexa Bliss to capture her first women’s championship on the main roster. However, some questioned last week if Jax was ditching her babyface role to come back over to the dark side.
The WWE has already dubbed it the biggest Raw Women’s Championship match in history at Money In The Bank when Jax defends her title against Ronda Rousey. But after last week’s interaction, it seemed as if Jax might have turned heel after getting chippy with Rousey and even the fans for a split second.
Last night saw Jax battle Rousey’s friend and training partner Natalya in one-on-one action. The big development came at the end of the match when Natalya injured her knee. The Irresistible Force took advantage and after a samoan drop, she got the win. Rousey immediately came down to the ring to check on Natalya, but Jax seemed just as worried as Rousey was.
Rousey and Jax got in each other’s face when Rousey told Jax to stay out of it, but Jax never attacked Rousey and never laid a hand on Natalya. A backstage segment later in the night didn’t portray Jax in a heel role either. Maybe she still will be, but the Raw Women’s Champion isn’t a heel yet until officially proven otherwise.
Her career breakthrough came as a babyface, so The Irresistible Force should remain a babyface from here until the character loses its luster.
