5 Best Segments on WWE Television for the Week of June 4

Carmella and Asuka promo

This segment kicked off SmackDown Live this week, with Carmella cutting a promo on Asuka. This led to some good video packages of Asuka during her undefeated streak, and then after losing to Charlotte at WrestleMania. I’ll be the first to say, I’m not exactly in favor of seeing Carmella as champion right now, mostly because it seems that her matches never deliver for me. That being said though, she is a fantastic heel in these sorts of segments and carries herself very well.

After Asuka came out to confront Asuka, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville came out to also confront Asuka. Carmella played this very well, and said the undefeated Asuka would take on both of them with no problem. This led to a handicap match with Carmella on commentary.

This was a very fun handicap match, and not just because of Asuka, who always delivers, I thought Sonya Deville was very good in this match. The highlight of the match for me was the spear from Sonya Deville to Asuka. Asuka sold this so well, similar to a sort of Goldberg to Christian spear This, along with Carmella on commentary, made this a very fun opening to SmackDown.
