WWE SmackDown Power Rankings: Daniel Bryan Makes It All Look Good
Daniel Bryan and Shelton Benjamin faced off for the first time in WWE during the last episode of WWE SmackDown Live, with Bryan picking up yet another big win using the Heel Hook. Bryan ranks highly in this week’s power rankings, but is he No. 1?
Before I get into this week’s WWE SmackDown Live power rankings, I just want to briefly praise the SmackDown Women’s Division for really anchoring the show. Two weeks ago, the majority of the show’s segments involved women, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. Carmella and Asuka were thoroughly entertaining as they built to their title match at Money in the Bank, Naomi was the MVP of a mixed tag match, and Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair tore down the house.
This week, the women had a “Summit” to start the show that featured brilliant promo work from Becky and The IIconics, and the ten-woman tag match that main evented the show was the match of the night.
With all of that said, let’s dig into this week’s power rankings.
10. Sonya Deville
I continue to be impressed with Sonya Deville’s work, and she has definitely earned a spot in the top ten this week. Her sequence with Naomi this week in the ten-woman tag match was tremendous, and Sonya’s strikes have really “wowed” fans. She’s a legitimate fighter and bad-ass in the SmackDown Women’s Division, and she has “future champion” written all over her.
9. The New Day
While The New Day aren’t anywhere near the SmackDown Tag Team Titles, they could obviously always be credible contenders for the tag titles whenever. But right now, they’ve been focused on The Miz, who is hungry for the Money in the Bank briefcase (when he should really be hungry for the pancakes inside of said briefcase) and is eager to learn which member of The New Day he must face on Sunday.
The New Day have been as hilarious as ever, and even though it’s never going to happen, a part of me really does want to see Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, or Big E grab that briefcase.
