Elias vs. Seth Rollins (c) Intercontinental Championship Match

This is an interesting one. I would have this match open the main show. As last month’s Backlash showed us, giving Seth Rollins the opening match is never a bad idea. With Elias, it’s interesting to me because we’ve yet to see Elias really have that sort of stellar match. His persona and promos have always been great, but while he’s been fine in the ring, he hasn’t had a stand out great match yet. This is an excellent opportunity to do that.

The open to the main show will be Elias doing his typical concert style promo. However, this time Elias informs everyone that there will not be a song tonight. He explains that he’s been so focused on preparing for his match tonight that he didn’t have time to prepare a song, and that Chicago doesn’t deserve a song anyway because the Bears suck or something like that. Fear not though, because after Elias wins the Intercontinental Title, he says he will have a special song celebrating his victory the next night on Raw.

As far as the match goes, I’d like to see this go at least around 20 minutes. Give Seth the chance to get all he can out of Elias. I also look to see a very aggressive Elias in this match, with the opportunity to win his first title in WWE. Seth, however, will find a way to win this match. With Elias’ character, the great thing about it is that losses don’t really hurt him right now, he will always be over as long as he has a mic and guitar with him. I would absolutely like to see Elias as Intercontinental Champion at some point down the line to really try to take that character to the next level, but tonight isn’t the night.
