Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax (c) Women’s Championship Match

At WrestleMania this year, Ronda Rousey made her debut in a mixed tag team match, partnering with Kurt Angle to defeat Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. Many were very surprised at how good Ronda looked in that match with it being her first WWE match, but it’s important to look at why she succeeded the way she did in that match. It was a tag team match, so she didn’t have to carry all of the load herself, and every person involved in that match is a veteran of the business and all know how to make things work in the ring. Triple H and Stehanie were vital in that match of making Rousey look great.

This time there is no Kurt Angle, there is no Stephanie, and there is no Triple H. Just Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax. How this match is put together will have a huge impact on how this match goes over. I think this is a match that can’t go too long, and needs to keep Ronda in her comfort zone. Strike exchanges between the two, and Ronda attempting to get Jax in the arm bar throughout.

I do somewhat feel like WWE has booked themselves into a corner on this one, as I think it is too early for Rousey to win the title, but it’s also a match that she shouldn’t lose this early in her WWE career. So really, whether or not I like it, the only option here is to have Rousey win clean. A no-decision finish would be super lame to have here, and really kills Ronda’s momentum, while having her lose will also have the same affect.
