WWE NXT: Results, Grades and Analysis for June 20th
By Liam Hoofe
NXT provided it’s standard post-Takeover show this week, with the majority of the show replaying highlights from Takeover: Chicago.
NXT Takeover: Chicago was an excellent pay-per-view and the fall-out from the night’s events is likely to have some major impact on the landscape of NXT.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until next week to see exactly what that fall-out is, with this week’s show being the standard post-Takeover glorified highlight reel.
With a lot of the NXT talent having performed in England earlier this week, there was only two matches on this week’s episode- Bianca Belair Vs Dakota Kai, and War Raiders Vs The Mighty. So, without further ado, let’s take a look back at this week’s episode of NXT.

Dakota Kai Vs Bianca Belair
Result: Bianca Belair Wins with the burning Belair
Grade: C+
Bianca Beliar is a future star of the NXT women’s division, I’ve no doubt about that, and the powers that be down in NXT obviously feel the same.
Belair was one of the most impressive performers in the Mae Young Classic last year, and this felt like her first really meaningful victory on NXT, having spent the last few months beating jobbers.
As far as the match itself goes, this was a solid 6-minute encounter which gave Belair a nice chance to show us what she is capable of, and the crowd were also firmly invested in her here too.
Dakota Kai seems to have lost a little momentum since her feud with Shayna Baszler was brought to an end a couple of weeks ago, but her super likeable babyface gimmick will allow her to recover with relative ease.
Is this going to be the start of a push for Belair? It certainly seems that way. Kairi Sane is still my pick to go one-on-one with Shayna Baszler at the next Takeover event, but Beliar could make an excellent challenger to a babyface champion in the months that follow that.

The Mighty Vs War Raiders
Result: War Raiders win the fallout
Grade: C
The former TM61 team of Miller and Thorne continued their reboot on this week’s NXT. The duo announced that they were changing their names to ‘The Mighty’ on an episode a few weeks back, and this week they came out with all new attire. The long coats actually really suited them and added a lot to their characters, who never really stood out before this.
Putting them against The War Raiders though, seemed a bit of a bad idea. The former NJPW champions have been booked to look incredibly dominant since their debut, and while The Mighty did manage to hold their own during the match, the result was fairly obvious from the start.
The match went just under five minutes, and while The Mighty looked okay, they could have used someone else here to make War Raiders look good.
The action in the match was fine, and the finish saw War Raiders hit their fallout finisher to pick up the win.
War Raiders are likely to move into the tag team title picture very soon, while The Mighty will likely go off to have another mini-feud to help them develop their new personas more.

On the whole, this was a very standard episode of NXT. The post-Takeover episodes are always dominated by highlight packages. Normal business will resume next week.
