Report: Last Straw For Big Cass Was Grabbing Carmella’s Arm

Big Cass was fired from WWE on Tuesday before SmackDown Live, and we’ve heard reports regarding several backstage incidents that may have led to his firing. It appears that there was a specific incident that served as a “last straw” from the company’s perspective.

Despite having the best match of his singles career on Sunday against Daniel Bryan at the Money in the Bank Pay Per View, Big Cass was fired from WWE the following Tuesday. Vince McMahon reportedly called a meeting that day to fire Cass, who spent seven years with the company.

Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin reported some details behind Cass’s release, focusing on two specific incidents. Sports Ilustrated’s Justin Barrasso reported that Cass had “personal conduct issues” that led to his release.

One of those incidents that certainly files as a “personal conduct issue” reportedly was viewed as a “last straw”. According to WrestlingNews.Co’s Taylor Underwood, Cass recently tried to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend Carmella and “caused a scene” while trying to get her to forgive him. She tried to brush him off, but he grabbed her arm. Underwood writes that The Usos and Erick Rowan were allegedly there to stop Cass.

This is awful, and if it is true, Cass certainly deserves to be fired. Even though he had some promise as a performer and showed improvement, there’s just no place for this kind of behavior in the locker room. In my eyes, this is assault, and I’m glad The Usos and Rowan were there to prevent Cass from doing anything worse.

Hopefully Cass learns from the many mistakes he reportedly made, which apparently include many more examples of rude behavior, to become a better person. This all sounds completely unacceptable, and learning from his mistakes serve Cass well in the future if he continues to pursue wrestling as a career.

Meanwhile, Carmella is still riding high as the SmackDown Women’s Champion, and she is one of the brightest stars in WWE today. Everyone speaks extremely highly of her as a person, so it’s not coincidental that she’s had more success than her former NXT stablemates.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: BodySlam.Net’s Brad Shepard, Barstool Sports’s Robbie Fox, and RingsideNews.com’s Steve Carrier have all refuted this report from WrestlingNews.Co’s Taylor Underwood.
